Once diagnosed, treatment for gum disease can include non-surgical treatment in-office for earlier stages, and/or referral to a specialist when necessary. Weather you know you have signs of periodontal disease or think you may be starting to show some symptoms, we can help to slow or even stop the disease process to prevent the loss of your teeth. It is important to remember that follow-up care at the recommended intervals (often every 3 months) is necessary to reduce risk for progression of disease. Today we know that if left untreated, gum disease can increase risk for other conditions including pre-term delivery with pregnancy, respiratory disease, diabetes, and heart disease.
